About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, the Health and Safety Systems Manager will play a foundational role in shaping the systems and infrastructure that support a consistent and effective approach to workplace health and safety across the organisation.
You will lead the design and implementation of user-friendly systems and tools that improve risk visibility, simplify processes, and support a mobile and non-desk-based workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement organisation-wide work health and safety systems, including digital reporting platforms, SharePoint forms, and document control frameworks
- Build a centralised, easy-to-use repository for all policies, procedures, and templates
- Develop and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems that not only meet but exceed workplace health, safety, and environmental legislative frameworks
- Create accessible and mobile-friendly reporting tools tailored to a diverse workforce
- Review and archive outdated documentation to reduce confusion and improve compliance
- Lead the development of critical incident management protocols
- Develop and maintain comprehensive HSE management systems that not only meet but exceed workplace health, safety, and environmental legislative frameworks
- Support the implementation of psychosocial risk management initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide input to executive and board reporting through dashboards and governance summaries
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing WHS management systems within complex, multi-site organisations
- Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and regulatory frameworks
- Lead Auditor qualification in AS/NZS 4801 or ISO 45001 (desirable)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Proven ability to translate complex safety concepts into practical, operational tools
- Experience within the care sector (disability, aged care, healthcare or similar) will be highly regarded
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking mindset
